Our History

In 1960, Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church purchased the old Collegiate School for Girls' building at 1617 Monument Avenue. After researching the needs of children and families in the community through parent surveys and meeting with neighborhood organizations, Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church saw the need for quality infant and preschool child care. The daycare has continued to grow and the Child Development Center is proud to provide infant care to Pre-K for 85-90 children.

Relationship with Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church

Grace Covenant Child Development Center is operated under the auspices of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. The Board of Directors is comprised of 9-12 members —many of whom are church members, elders, and deacons, — who provide guidance to the center and director, including the annual budget, fund-raising, scholarships for families in need, and general operations. The center director meets weekly with the church staff and the Pastor of the church, who teaches the CDC children in chapel once a week. The church director of music teaches music to the children ages 2.5+ weekly during the school year months (Sept-May). The church also invites GCCDC families and staff to participate in programs such as Wednesday Night Supper and Parents Night Out.
